As a general rule the best exhibitions have the best parties. There is a congratulatory buzz of excitement at seeing something new.
The art world ( particularly the English one) knows how to party and make the most of having a good time. A party of rich bankers would inevitably be dull. - But the mixture of the suits,. russian collectors, socialites, young artists., the newly rich, hangers on, models, some starving artists including journalists makes for a good party. That formula has worked for the last 15 years now. The media have been following and covering. But usually they seem to be a few years behind. . The benefit of sponsorship from drink companies has been that For the last 10-15 years its been possible for . artists ( living on the breadline in cheap studio spaces in London) to go out every night, look at each others work and socialise with other artists drinking .
The Dangerous Sports Club. The man in the centre of the group of friends that comprises the Dangerous Sports club is David Kirke. I first met David in Oxford.. I think I first saw him walking down Walton St. in black tie, drink in hand at 7 a.m in the morning ... The Dangerous Sports club invented bungee jumping and pioneered other dangerous but also innovative activities. I have an archive of pictures including copies of party invites and some v. early shots of an attempt to ski down hillsides in the summer by attaching skis on blocks of ice. I went to St. Moritz for the years that the annual surreal ski race took place. That was where I witnessed the first succesful attempt to dive into an ice bucket from the bar by Mike Fitzroy and Mark Chamberlain. <p style="text-align: left;">David Kirke recently talked about doing the first bungee jump from Clifton Suspension Bridge in <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00fvhtb">an interview with the BBC World Service</a>.</p>

My panoramic technique developed from experiments with early VR software. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of everything that was going on at social and celebrity events. I have done panoramic pictures of Red carpet events in Hollywood and the Art basel in Miami. . In London I made the pictures of art and fashion worlds and the traditional social season.My first panoramas were published in the Tatler , Talk magazines and the Sunday Times. I had a regular slot for several years in the Telegraph and Evening Standard magazines. I now still do the panoramas on commission. This is an archive of all my panoramic work. - Quite difficult to look through as they do all look better seen as large as possible.
I'm an editorial magazine photographer. - But that doesn't mean that I don't do weddings.- Throughout my career I have always loved them. The are usually wonderful occasions with many memorable moments. I like to photograph them in an unobtrusive, reportage way.
